Production Cel from Disney's "The Jungle Book" Item: This is a production cel from the 1966 Walt Disney film, "The Jungle Book". Condition: Cel is in perfect condition (see below). Cel is framed with a floating technique to eliminate any contact with the reproduction background. Reproduction background is an exact match to the pecific frame from the movie.
Framed dimensions are 13½" x 16½". Sorry for the glare and reflections, this piece was difficult to photograph. Other Information: The Jungle Book is a portrayal of how Bagheera the Panther and Baloo the Bear face the difficulties of trying to convince a boy (raised in the jungle) to leave it behind for the safety of human civilization.
This cel is from the scene where King Louie sings the catchy tune, "I Wan'na Be Like You (The Monkey Song)". Midway through the melody one of the monkeys attempts to mimic the sound of a trumpet with his lips. As shown in this cel, the rendition apparently doesn't resonant very well with this orangutan. The voice of King Louie was performed by legendary jazz singer Louis Prima.
In the original story, Rudyard Kipling used Hindi names for the animals, as they are related to their species. "Baloo"- bear, "Bagheera"- panther, "Hathi"- elephant and "Shere Khan" means Tiger King. Originally a Disney Art Corner cel that was damaged, so I had professionally restored by a retired Disney Ink & Paint artist in California many years ago.
