Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. Dopey Production Cel Courvoisier Setup (Walt Disney, 1937). Dutiful Dopey heeds Doc's call in this darling original production cel Courvoisier setup from the 1937 Disney classic. A beloved and comical character that never utters a word, Dopey can be spotted dashing after the soap near the 46:17 timestamp before accidentally swallowing it and subjecting himself to an eruption of bubbly hiccups. He has been hand-inked and hand-painted to glorious full-figure standing at approximately 4 tall and nicely centered.

The setup includes a hand-inked overlay cel with the soap and bubbles which may be from the film, and a traditionally styled original Courvoisier custom airbrushed background. The reverse side includes an original label from the H. Lieber Company in Indianapolis (founded in 1854), one of the lesser-known art galleries licensed to sell Disney original cels. Though Guthrie Courvoisier originally brought the idea of cels as Fine Art to the studio's attention, Disney approved of expanding to additional galleries and museums under Guthrie's representation which in turn brought worldwide success in elevating the status of animation artwork. Unlike the standard Courvoisier practice of meticulously to-image trimming, this cel appears to have the paint sealed on the reverse side for both Dopey and the soap's layers with only slight edge trimming to the setup's overall size.

The piece is double-matted to a final size of 14.5" x 14.75" with an aperture of 8.25" x 8.5" and features the original CoA on the reverse.
