Sleeping Beauty 1959 Disney Original Maleficent Production Art

THE ICONIC COLLECTION AT HEY, MICKEY! This is the home of the Oscar Winners. The best of the best. "The Mistress of All Evil". For sale here is a classic piece of authentic Disneyana depicting the most feared, most revered and most beloved villain in the history of Disney Animation.

Released on January 29, 1959 Walt Disney's Sleeping Beauty was, ironically, Disney's 16th full length animated feature classic. It took nearly ten years to complete and was, at that time, the most expensive animated film ever produced. Among the many well known scenes in the movie, is when Maleficent heads down to the dungeon to taunt the captured Prince Phillip.

This frame, startling in its beauty, never made it into the final film. Maleficent is seen mostly from behind as she descends to the dungeon in the film and these beautiful full frontal views of her walking down the long staircase (evidenced in this drawing by the flow of her train on the steps behind her) were cut for time.

Maleficent is widely regarded as the most popular villain in Disney's large and infamous rogue's gallery and this piece of original animation displays perfectly how she attained that status. Regal and menacing, this drawing perfectly displays Maleficent's power and grace. Maleficent's design and animation were overseen by renowned animator, Disney Legend and one of the "Nine Old Men", the late, great Marc Davis.

She is presented here rendered in graphite to the far left of the animation paper, with the steps to the dungeon presented in red, and measures in approximately at an imposing 3.25 inches wide and nearly 6 inches tall. As seen in the photo, it also carries what appears to likely be a drop of the animator's coffee, which due to their hours, was a common item at the desk of Disney animators. The droplet can obviously be framed out, and the price has been adjusted accordingly. This is an opportunity to own an absolute gem for any Disney collector or film fan. A full figure, forward facing original production drawing of the greatest villain in Disney history. The Mistress of all Evil. Don't pass it up. The policy will be strictly adhered to WITHOUT exception. I don't try to put one over on my buyers. It's just included in my pricing.
