Disney The Sword in the Stone (1963) Merlin and Archimedes. This is a beautiful original production animation cel painting with a matching background print in Disneyland mat with Gold Seal on the back. Gouache on 10" x 12" trimmed animation cel sheet, mat opening size is 8"x 10" with background print in window of 12" x 14" mat. Merlin's image is 5 x 8 and Archimedes' image is 3.25 x 3.75. This excellent hand-painted animation cel of Merlin, England's legendary wizard and mentor to King Arthur, and Archimedes, Merlin's analytical owl.

Was created in the Disney Ink & Paint department and photographed during the making of the animated feature based on The Once and Future King. This cel was selected and prepared for sale in a shop at Disneyland.

The original paper tape on the back that was used to seal the mat is unbroken. The original Disneyland mat has some slight damage in the upper right corner. Overall condition is Very Good.
