Mickey Mouse Black-and-White Nitrate Production Cel (Walt Disney, 1931). Mickey maneuvers his taxi in a tip-toe to avoid potholes in this astonishing original hand-inked and hand-painted original nitrate production cel from the theatrical short. This Burt Gillett-directed film was released to theaters on 3/7/1931, the 26th Mickey Mouse short ever produced. Seen at the 2:24 mark of the film, this incredible piece offers a picture-perfect image: both of Mickey's eyes are visible, and his "Taxi" sign can be clearly seen. Black and white original production cels of Mickey Mouse from this era are highly coveted treasures. Is one of Disney's early cartoons featured at the Main Street Cinema in Disneyland. In the early 1930s at Disney, cels were generally washed off after being photographed, and re-used to save on production costs. Because of this, very few cels from this period have survived, making black and white cels from this era highly sought-after treasures!

The piece has been meticulously trimmed to image and mounted to a new cel, and it shows professional restoration. The image measures 4.5" x 3" on the 20" x 13.5".

Displayed on a printed background for presentation purposes, the cel is in Very Good condition.
