Lotus Lantern is one of the most famous Shanghai Production Studio movies released in 1999. It is the very first full length animation film that was created to compete with Disney and to become first Chinese blockbuster.

It was designed and created specifically to replicate success of Disney's full length animation films. It took the company 4 years and more than 60 graphic designers, animators and 20 background artists to produce Lotus Lantern.
